FAQ
Common questions.
Is Rex Triage a replacement for triage nurses?
No. Rex is a pre-arrival triage tool that gives the ER advance notice and patient context. The triage nurse still performs a clinical assessment on arrival. Rex makes their job faster by providing a head start.
How accurate is the ESI classification?
In clinical validation studies, Rex matched nurse triage decisions 89% of the time. When it disagreed, it erred on the side of higher severity — which is the safer clinical behavior.
What happens if a patient has a true emergency?
Rex detects emergency keywords (chest pain, difficulty breathing, unresponsive, severe bleeding) and immediately displays a 911 advisory. It does not attempt to replace emergency dispatch.
Is this HIPAA-compliant?
Yes. AES-256 encryption at rest and in transit, full audit trail, BAA available on Emergency and Trauma Center plans. No patient data is used for model training.
How long does deployment take?
Urgent Care and Emergency plans are live within 48 hours. Trauma Center deployments with EHR integration typically take 2–4 weeks.
Can patients use Rex without a smartphone?
Yes. Rex works on any device with a web browser — phone, tablet, or a kiosk in your waiting room. No app download required.
